This is a proposed redesign for Expedition Learn, one of Encyclopedia Britannica’s educational platforms. For all lessons (Science & Social Studies), Product Managers requested:
An enhanced navigation menu
A progress tracker
Additional reading tools
A redesigned vocabulary box
A layout optimized for Chromebook resolutions, commonly used by students and teachers.
Redesign the vocabulary widget and integrate a mini version into the side navigation for continuous access during reading.
Overhaul the Learn More page (page 11) to include links to related products like Britannica School and resources like Teach for Britannica.
Redesign the article pages (pages 2 and 4) to reduce scroll length and improve content digestibility, avoiding overwhelming users.
Optimize the layout for Chromebooks by implementing a responsive design. Adjust elements like media containers and headers to fit within the viewport and prioritize key content above the fold.
Design a persistent, left-aligned floating navigation menu featuring a clear progress tracker and quick access to reading tools.
Develop an annotation feature that allows students to highlight and interact with the text.
Introduce engaging visual elements or icons to question-only pages that lack multimedia content.
